I am a relative newcomer to Thurmont having moved here on April 8, 1960 at the age of 6 with my parents and sister from our home in Aberdeen Scotland. A newcomer after almost 50 years? Yes, as anyone who lives in a small town knows, you will still be considered a newcomer by a portion of the locals regardless of how long you have lived there. This to me is part of the charm of being welcomed and accepted by the citizens of Thurmont. I could not have asked for a better town in which to grow up or to raise my family in than right here in Thurmont!
This area is a photographers dream, with four distinct season to work with, history at every turn and some of the most spectacular scenery ever, it’s hard not to take great pictures! I am also a member of several local groups and organizations, this involvement includes volunteering to take photographs of many local events. As an avid amateur photographer I am always willing to bring a camera with me regardless of the occasion! I also maintain two community web sites, Thurmont.com and ThurmontFirst.com where many of the images from local events are posted in community albums.
